Beauty and Rants: FEATURE OF THE MONTH: JANNIEOLOGY [January 2013]

I promised myself that 2013 will be the come back of my Feature of the Month blog segment. What better way to start the month than feature a longtime beauty blogger friend? This month, I was able to get a chance to interview Jannie, the bubbly beauty blogger behind Jannieology.

This girl was one of the reasons why I started to push through with loving makeup, she is the most down to earth, selfless, and "I-always-have-your-back" kind of friend. As I read my way through the questionnaire, I couldn't help but tear a little as she has remained humble after all of the success that she is constantly receiving after starting this beauty blog of hers.

1. Who is Jannie aka Jannieology?
Who is Jannie? Well I am a plump (& proud!) 21 (turning 22!) year old blogger from Zamboanga City, Philippines. I started blogging way back in 2006, hopping from one blogging platform to the other till I committed to Blogger last January 2012. I used to write random blog posts that talked about a lot of different things till I found my “mojo” writing beauty product reviews about 2 years ago on Tumblr. A year (& tons of beauty & makeup products later) I decided to commit to being a beauty blogger and have been loving every minute of it. Apart from my blogging life, I busy myself with being a daughter, granddaughter, friend & girlfriend. When I’m not online, you’ll most probably catch me hanging out with my friends and/or boyfriend or in the kitchen raiding the fridge! Milk tea, cupcakes & beef wanton mami noodle soup (aside from makeup) make me happy! ~ Oh and on a side note, I’m also a registered nurse.

2. Did you always want to be a Youtube beauty guru/makeup artist?
Not really. It just “happened” one day. I’m not even that active on YouTube anymore but I have tons of plans for 2013. I’m reviving my channel this coming February! As for being a makeup artist… I’ve known since I was 18 that I want makeup to be part of my life and I want to be able to make others feel wonderful about themselves by enhancing their natural beauty with makeup so being a makeup artist was one of the ways I thought I could achieve that.

3. What is the story behind your username, Jannieology?
Ology means a subject of study… Hence Jannieology in a sense means “the study of all things Jannie”. I find it quirky but it does make sense. I usually post product reviews which is basically a short “study” of that product. I hope I haven’t confused any of you yet! Plus Jannieology is catchy and quite easy to remember.

4. How do you come up with ideas and looks for your next video tutorials/blog posts?
I always try to get inspiration from other bloggers, YouTubers, gurus, and even in simple everyday things like a random colorful throw pillow I saw at the mall or that awesome smokey eye photo on Instagram… Through these inspirations, I am able to come up with my tutorials & blog posts…

5. How would you like people to remember you?
I want people to remember me as that plump girl from a small hometown that chased after her dreams of sharing to everybody her thoughts about beauty related stuff and issues. I also want to be remembered as that beauty blogger who, despite her busy “real life” obligations of being a daughter, grand daughter, friend, girlfriend & nurse, still has the time and energy to reach out to all her supporters & readers who are her main inspiration to keep on going with what she does…

6. Complete the sentence: Makeup is ______
Makeup is a weapon that when used properly (and with creativity & flare) is able to enhance ones natural beauty! Makeup is part of who I am. Don’t get me wrong, it’s not like I step out every single day with a full face of makeup on but never ever underestimate the power of a great concealer and a gorgeous lipstick!

7. What beauty tip/secret would you like to share to your Filipina readers/viewers?
This really isn’t a secret since I know most of you already know these but here it goes anyway…
