Ask April #4: Skin Type

I do apologize for not keeping up with this series, but nonetheless, regardless if it is a Monday and not a Friday (wherein I usually publish this post), I will be doing Ask April today.

So I got this question thru Facebook chat when a cyber-friend slash blog reader asked me this:

Is there a significant difference between oily and oily/combination skin?

Before I answer this question, let me first make a quick disclaimer. I am no expert when it comes to the skin, nor the different skin types that we have. I am basing my answer thru knowledge that I have acquired thru makeup school/training and thru reading makeup books.

Let's move on to my answer. YES, there is a difference between the two (2). Let me break it down into detailed answer so that we can further discuss all four (4) types of skin type.

1. NORMAL SKIN
- this is the type of skin wherein the state or status of your skin is not too dry nor too oily.

2. OILY SKIN
- this is the type of skin wherein you have shiny spots or "oiliness" in your t-zone; forehead, nose, cheeks, chin.

3. DRY SKIN
- this is the type of skin wherein you have a dull-looking face, for others, some parts of their facial skin is somehow flaky.

4. OILY/COMBINATION
- this is my skin type. this is the type wherein you have certain parts of your face that's oily, dry, and normal. in my case, the oily part is my nose and forehead. the dry part is around the nose, some parts of my cheeks, and the outer rim of my mouth. the rest of the face is normal, meaning not too dry nor too oily.

You also want to consider if you have a sensitive skin. In my case, I was able to determine that I have an oily/combination sensitive skin when I get usual breakouts a couple of days after trying out a product. For me, my skin reacts that fast, which is why I tend to carefully research on the product before I jump in and purchase it.

I hope this helped a lot of you in determining your skin type. To see my previous Ask April series, click HERE. If you have any questions, leave your messages below in the comment box, thru messaging me in my Facebook page, or by emailing me thru my contact form.
